WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Art Wilson prayed a prayer that Dr. Bob Pierce (Founder of World Vision and Samaritan Purse) had prayed, “Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God”. Our Lord took him up on that prayer and broke Art’s heart for lost and dying gang members in our nation's streets and the streets in Central America.
In July 1998, God’s message became clear to Art, “Go to the streets of Chicago for a month; leave your business and family. I will be with you and protect you”.
Art’s first day in a gang war zone was confirmation that he was where the Lord wanted him to be. He met a violent gang in a park. After telling them that he was there because Jesus loves them, the gang took it upon themselves to protect Art in their dangerous area because, “No one ever came here where we live just because he cares about us”.
Since that day God has opened this ministry to many opportunities. Hundreds have been touched by God’s love. Gang members have come into a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ as well as many within Florida’s youth detention facilities.
